Kate Loven
My educational background includes undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota, a master's degree and doctorate degree from the University of St. Thomas. I am a licensed psychologist with experience in outpatient therapy, employee assistance, and in counseling middle school, high school and college students. I have also enjoyed working with the elderly. I have experience working with dual diagnoses of mental health and chemical dependency issues as well as the effects of chronic medical conditions on mental health. I see individuals, couples and on occasion families. I have worked in the field of psychology spanning 12 years.
My training experience includes stress management, life balance, grief, anxiety, depression trauma, post-traumatic stress panic, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. My therapy approach emphasis on relationship building, collaboration and is solution focused. Generally I use cognitive behavioral therapy and other supportive therapy process. I believe each person is unique which requires approaches specific for individual answers in healing. I am a faith-based counselor open to discussing a client's spiritual concerns.
